Hotels in Andorra
The Principality of Andorra is small, just 468 km2, and it is situated between France and Spain. It is high up in the centre of the Pyrenees mountain range, surrounded by over 70 mountain peaks, of which the highest one is Coma Pedrosa, 2,942 metres high. There are 65,000 inhabitants in Andorra and they live in seven parishes: Canillo, Encamp, Ordino, La Massana, Andorra la Vella (capital), Sant Julià de Lòria and Escaldes-Engordany. It is the unique country in the world where Catalan is the official language.
Andorra is a wonderful destination for practicing ski and snowboard. It has two big resorts: Vallnord and Grandvalira (200 km of ski runs), as well as the endurance ski resort of La Rabassa.
The winter activities are rounded off by the extensive offer of snow racket routes, sledge dog excursions and snow motors. You can also practice ice skating at the Palau de Gel de Canillo.
In summer Andorra is great for enjoying all the fresh air and purity of the mountain, and for practicing trekking and hiking along the short and long paths through the valleys or across the mountain peaks. Other typical summer activities in Andorra are horse riding, mountain bike trips, quad buggies, rock wall obstacle courses, rock climbing, adventure circuits and racing the rapids.
Andorra offers you the opportunity to discover an important cultural inheritance on the Romanic routes through over 30 churches and chapels, such as Sant Climent de Pal, Sant Joan de Caselles, Sant Martí de la Cortinada, Sant Miquel d´Engolasters and the sanctuaries of la Mare de Déu de Canòlich de Meritxell (the patron saint of Andorra) and the Casa de la Vall (Parliament of Andorra).
Another cultural jewel is the varied and interesting offer of national and private museums. There is also a program of music, theatre and patron saint festivals and concerts taking place all through the year in the different villages of the principality.
There are more attractions, too, and they are no less interesting. You can find everything you want to buy or just look at in the over 2 000 shops concentrated in the capital. They offer top quality products and bands at competitive prices 365 days a year. While shopping around these shops you can combine the trip with a leisure trip to the Caldea spa in the capital, or enjoy Andorra’s varied and rich cuisine in one of the principalities typical “bordas” (restaurants).
